Truth Today is a manageable training curriculum designed to strengthen and encourage our membership. The first phase will consist of three 12-week classes: Hermeneutics, Old Testament Exposition, and New Testament Exposition. Phase two will focus on Ecclesiology, Church Leadership, Shepherding Essentials, and Elder Ordination Preparation. The first three classes have been created and tested with a small group of men. Each year, a new class will be introduced which builds off of the previous classes.
We will not meet on 5/18, 6/15, or 6/29
Saturdays • 10:00am • Upper Room
April 20 - July 27 • Cost: $10
This class provides a foundation for a lifetime of studying, applying, and teaching the Bible. We will examine the science and art of Bible interpretation with a focus on the grammatical-historical method as the proper approach to interpreting Scripture. This will include a survey of major interpretive approaches to the Bible; a biblical rationale for the grammatical-historical method; and a thorough examination of both (a) the comprehensive set of general interpretive principles which apply to all of Scripture (General Hermeneutics) and (b) the narrower set of specialized principles for interpreting the various literary genres of Scripture (Special Hermeneutics). An additional focus will be given to key issues that are controversial within the field of contemporary hermeneutics.

This class will introduce the culture, context, and content of each book in the Old Testament. Unlike a typical survey, the grand storyline of redemption will be the primary focus while implementing the grammatical-historical hermeneutic introduced in the previous course.
